With the objective of sharing experiences and discussing innovations in mining plant and equipment maintenance, the meeting MAPA – MANTEMIN was held from 1 to 3 September in Santiago, Chile.
For the second consecutive year MAPLA and MANTEMIN were held simultaneously, which offered industry professionals a forum for technical exchange where they could analyse strategies for addressing not only the individual challenges of mining plant and mine equipment maintenance but also their shared challenges.
Among the 352 participants from 16 countries we welcomed 173 representatives from mining companies, 15 from engineering firms, 20 from universities and 144 from technology and service providers.
The technical programme included 63 presentations in the areas of maintenance management, best practices, advanced techniques and technological developments, and safety in maintenance. There were also four plenary presentations given by our special guests: Edwin Orchard and Nelson Cavour of Minera Escondida, Chile; Andrew Jardine of the University of Toronto, Canada; José Antonio Botín of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain; and Ernesto Arancibia of Codelco, Chile.
A short course was held previous to the meetings called Maintenance Management Optimisation, taught by the distinguished professors Andrew Jardine, Rodrigo Pascual and Darko Louit.
With your participation we hope that MAPLA and MANTEMIN will continue to be an exceptional opportunity to share with colleagues and learn about new technologies and industrial practices in maintenance optimisation and mining asset management.
